Asher Kupperman, MD, is a specialist in hand and upper extremity surgery at Alta Orthopaedics, with locations in Solvang, Santa Barbara, and Oxnard, California. Dr. Kupperman was born at Cottage Hospital and raised in Santa Barbara. He attended Vieja Valley, La Colina, and graduated valedictorian from San Marcos High School, where he captained the basketball team. As the son of two doctors, it was always his dream to return to Santa Barbara as a physician so that he could care for the community that raised and cared for him.

He majored in molecular biophysics and biochemistry at Yale University and earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Following his residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Kupperman completed specialty fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He also trained at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and New York-Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell Medical School.

Eli Kupperman, MD, is a fellowship-trained sports and regenerative medicine specialist at Alta Orthopaedics in Solvang,  and Santa Barbara, California. He treats musculoskeletal conditions resulting from injury, overuse, and arthritis. He specializes in shoulder replacements as well as arthroscopic and minimally-invasive surgical techniques, which reduce post-operative recovery time and allow patients an earlier return to work and play.

Dr. Kupperman is proud to have grown up in Santa Barbara, where he attended Vieja Valley, La Colina, and San Marcos High School. He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics and rowed for the crew team. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Following residency, Dr. Kupperman completed his specialty fellowship in sports medicine under the world-renowned surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, at the Andrews Institute, where he was awarded the prestigious Herodicus Society North American Travelling Fellowship. Paul Marr, MD, is a highly skilled physician who specializes in sports medicine at Commonwealth Orthopaedic Associates in Reading, Pennsylvania. He provides care for complex knee and shoulder injuries and sports-related concussions.

Dr. Marr graduated with a bachelor’s degree in premedical studies and psychology from Columbia University in New York City and earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey. Julie Barré, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine provider at 360 Orthopedics in Sarasota, Venice, and Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Dr. Barré earned her Bachelor of Science in physical education at Florida State University, before earning her Bachelor of Science in physical therapy from Florida A&M University. She then earned her medical degree at the Florida State University College of Medicine. She completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Hughston Clinic. 

Dr Barré specializes in the non-operative and operative treatment of general orthopedic conditions and injuries. During her time in residency and fellowship, Dr Barré acted as team physician for collegiate basketball teams, high school football teams, and a professional hockey team. She was team physician for Orange Park High School football team and organized community-wide free high school physicals in Jacksonville. She served as Chairperson of Orthopedics and has been on the teaching faculty in Orthopedics for Family Practice residents.

A native of Tallahassee, Dr Barré now resides in Sarasota with her husband and two children. Her interests include exercise, golf, cooking, travel, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and beach activities with her family. With her background as a former physical therapist, she realizes the importance of a team relationship with her patients and supports open communication to return them to their normal function.

Jonathan H. Koenig, MD, is a Board Certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon at Los Angeles Pediatric Orthopaedics serving the Brentwood community on the Westside of Los Angeles. Though Dr. Koenig specializes in treating children and young adults, he’s happy to help any patient who still feels young at heart. 

Growing up on Long Island in the suburbs of New York City, Dr. Koenig was a tri-sport athlete who went on to play varsity lacrosse at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale with a degree in the history of science and medicine. He then returned to New York City to earn his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx.  

Dr. Koenig completed a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan's Upper East Side — home of America’s first official sports medicine department. His training included rotations at world-leading institutions like Boston Children’s Hospital, R Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Dr. Koenig served as chief resident during his final year and completed a traveling fellowship at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. 

Leaving New York City for sunny Southern California, Dr. Koenig finished a one-year fellowship in pediatric orthopedics and scoliosis surgery at the world-renowned Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. He’s honored to bring his wealth of knowledge and extensive experience to the Westside of Los Angeles, where he resides with his wife, Dani - a native Angeleno.  They enjoy spending time with their young daughter, Harlow as well as their first born - Woody, a golden retriever.

As a former athlete and orthopaedic patient himself, Dr. Koenig has a personal understanding of all aspects of the care he provides. From sports-related injuries like ACL tears or patella dislocations as well as broken bones or limb deformities and joint pains, he makes sure that every patient receives prompt, highly individualized treatment. Daniel Trimberger II, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine physician at Sports Medicine Oregon, located in Tigard and Wilsonville, Oregon. He has a special interest in injury prevention and management of soccer injuries, and injuries sustained while performing overhead throwing or hitting sports, dance medicine, and mixed martial arts. He believes in a team approach for managing his patients’ injuries, including the integration of traditional and complementary medicine techniques.

Dr. Trimberger earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado in Boulder and his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. He completed an emergency medicine residency at Strong Memorial Hospital through the University of Rochester in New York, where he remained for his fellowship training in sports medicine. 

He has additional training in screening athletes for sudden cardiac death and extensive experience in the evaluation of EKGs. He is the team physician for the Timbers T2 Team and the Timbers Youth Academy teams and provides orthopedic support for the local area high schools. He also continues to practice emergency medicine in conjunction with practicing sports medicine.  

Dr. Trimberger is a member of the American Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Emergency Physicians, and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
